The Australian Government has committed $8.5 million to assist education foundations in supporting First Nations students.

$4 million to 2027-28 will be provided to support the GO Foundation’s scholarships, which provide wrap around educational support to First Nations students. An additional $4.5 million to 2026-27 is being provided to continue support for the Aurora Education Foundation’s Redefining Indigenous Success in Education (RISE) initiative.

GO Foundation scholarships are offered to First Nations school or university students. The program provides assistance to students so they feel supported to get the most from their education. Since the GO Foundation’s creation in 2009, the organisation has awarded more than 1,600 scholarships.

The Aurora Education Foundation supports First Nations students to realise their full potential. Aurora will deliver and evaluate activities that enable First Nations high school students to define and pursue their version of success with academic, cultural and wellbeing support.

The funding will continue the Australian Government’s contribution to help the Foundation expand its RISE initiative from 459 students to up to 800 students.
