Do you want to help people achieve their tertiary education dreams without leaving their community? Community-owned organisations can now apply to establish a Regional University Study Hub.
On 18 July 2023, the Hon Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education announced $66.9 million to double the number of University Study Hubs, including establishing up to 20 additional Regional University Study Hubs and up to 14 new Suburban University Study Hubs. This is part of the Government’s response to the priority actions listed in the Australian Universities Accord Panel’s Interim Report.
The new Regional University Study Hubs will be established across two streams:
- Stream 1 (Cohort 4) – up to 10 Regional University Study Hubs in 2024.
- Stream 2 (Cohort 5) – up to 10 Regional University Study Hubs in 2025.
Applications are now open to establish the first up to 10 Regional University Study Hubs.
‘Regional University Study Hubs bring university opportunities to people where they live. All Australians should have the same opportunities to access tertiary education, no matter their postcode’, the Hon Jason Clare, Minister for Education, said.
Regional University Study Hubs provide students with study spaces, IT, and internet access, as well as academic skills and wellbeing support.
The new Regional University Study Hubs will be in addition to the 34 Hubs currently located in all states and the Northern Territory. In 2023, these Hubs are supporting more than 3,400 students, studying more than 1,000 courses through more than 200 tertiary education providers around Australia.
Applications close on 15 December 2023.
