Australia and India’s Education Ministers signed the first ever Mechanism for the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications between Australia and India, in New Delhi on 2 March 2023.

Australia and India have signed an historic agreement to mutually recognise qualifications in both nations for the purpose of access to higher education.

The Mechanism for the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications between Australia and India was signed on 2 March 2023 by the Minister for Education, the Hon Jason Clare MP, and India’s Education Minister the Hon Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.

This mechanism, or agreement, is India’s most comprehensive education agreement of its type with another country, supporting India’s higher education ambitions through greater two-way student mobility and different ways of learning, including online study.

It’s an important milestone for the bilateral relationship and will strengthen ties between the two nations.

It also creates exciting opportunities for Australian universities to deliver education in India. Students can be assured that their Australian qualification will set them up for a successful future, regardless of where they take their qualification.
