The Australian Government is funding and supporting the following agencies, committees, boards and councils.

Governance

COAG Industry and Skills Council

The Council of Australian Governments COAG Industry and Skills Council comprises Australian, state and territory government Ministers responsible for industry and skills.  

Australian Industry and Skills Committee

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee will be established to provide industry with a formal role in advising the COAG Industry and Skills Council on policy directions and decision making in the national training system.

Vocational Education and Training Advisory Board

The Australian Government is strengthening industry and the skills sector links through a five-member Vocational Education and Training Advisory Board that provides advice to the Minister for Vocational Education and Skills on the VET sector.

Australian Apprenticeships Reform Working Group

The Australian Apprenticeships Reform Working Group comprises Australian, state and territory government representatives from departments with responsibility for apprenticeships. The group coordinates policy and administrative arrangements implements CISC actions related to Australian Apprenticeship issues.

Regulatory

Australian Skills Quality Authority

The Australian Skills Quality Authority is the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector.

However, Victoria and Western Australia maintain responsibility for regulating registered training organisations that only train domestic students and only operate in either or both of these states via the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority and the Training Accreditation Council Western Australia.

Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency

The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency is Australia's independent national regulator of the higher education sector.

Research and advisory

Industry Skills Councils were funded by the Australian Government until 30 June 2015 to develop and maintain training packages. The Australian Government has announced that from 1 July 2015 there will be a contestable model for training package development. National Centre for Vocational Education Research

The National Centre for Vocational Education Research is an independent body which collects, manages, analyses, evaluates and communicates research and statistics about vocational education and training nationally.

Adult Learning Australia

Adult Learning Australia is the national peak body for the Adult and Community Education fields.

Australian Council for Private Education and Training

Australian Council for Private Education and Training is the national industry association for independent providers of post-compulsory education and training, for Australian and international students.

Community Colleges Australia

Community Colleges Australia is the peak-body for not-for-profit owned learning organisations across Australia. 

Enterprise Registered Training Organisation Association

The Enterprise Registered Training Organisation Association represents and supports business enterprises operating registered training organisations.

Group Training Australia

Group Training Australia Limited is the national association representing a network of around 150 group training organisations located throughout metropolitan, regional and remote areas of Australia.

TAFE Directors Australia

TAFE Directors Australia is the peak national body representing Australia’s government owned Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutes and university TAFE divisions, and the Australia-Pacific Technical College.

National Association of Australian Apprenticeship Centres

The National Association of Australian Apprenticeship Centres represents the Australian Apprenticeship Centres that provide one-stop shops for those seeking to hire Australian Apprentices or to take up an Australian Apprenticeship as a career path.

VETnetwork Australia

VETnetwork Australia is a national network of teachers, trainers, career advisors, program coordinators, administrative and support personnel committed to vocational learning and youth transition.
