The National Partnerships for Low Socio-economic Status School Communities, Literacy and Numeracy and Improving Teacher Quality ran from 2009 to 2013. The National Partnership Agreements, Bilateral Agreements and Implementation Plans are available on the federal financial relations website.

Key reform projects

Between 2010 and 2012, the Commonwealth, states and territories collaborated on six projects under the National Partnerships.

School Performance Improvement Framework Project

This project considered professional learning and systemic support to assist in implementing school performance and improvement frameworks. The report on the School Performance Improvement Framework Project is available.

Innovative strategies for small and remote schools project

This project focused on identifying and sharing successful strategies that address the challenges that small and remote schools face.  The report on the Innovative strategies for small and remote schools project is available.

Parental Engagement in Schooling in Low SES

This project looked at best practice strategies that improve knowledge, attitudes and behaviours in respect to the engagement of parents, caregivers and communities in the education of their children.  This project had a focus on low SES and Indigenous communities. Extended Service School Model Project

This project explored schools that work in partnership with government, local providers and community members to offer extended services to students, their families and the local community.  The report on the Extended Service School Model Project is available.

National Literacy and Numeracy Diagnostic Tools Project

A number of computer-based diagnostic tools to support teaching and learning in the early, primary and middle years of schooling were trialed. The report on the National Literacy and Numeracy Diagnostic Tools Project is available.

School Leadership Development Strategies Project

The Project looked at developing a national approach to enhancing the leadership capacity of current and aspiring school leaders and developed an online clearing house, the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership website.
